POD

The pod or legume is a dry fruit formed by two valves to which the seeds are attached. It is deiescent, that is, once it reaches maturity it opens spontaneously to release the seeds. What we call "peas" and what we eat are the seeds.
Typical examples are the pea (photo on the side), the broad beans, the bean.
